Health Care Administrator Lance Conley announces his candidacy for City Council Kansas City, MO
Health Care Administrator Lance Conley has announced his candidacy for the City Council of Kansas City, Fifth District (In District). The district encompasses areas west of Troost, south of 40 Hwy, north of Hwy 50 and west of Lee’s Summit Rd.
A longtime resident of the 5th District, Conley has served on several boards for the City of Kansas City via appointment by Fifth District At-Large Councilwoman, Cindy Circo, including the Neighborhood Tourism Development Fund (NTDF) and the Economic Development Task Force. Additionally, Conley was a Mayor Sly James Appointee to the Environmental Management Commission and Fifth District Vice-Chair for the Citizens Association.
“Kansas City, especially the Fifth District, is in a unique position to capitalize on the economic development that will take place due to the expansion of Cerner and other tech opportunities,” said Conley. “As a City Councilman, I will continue to nurture the current relationships to retain jobs and businesses in the Fifth District, but I will also seek out areas to bolster economic opportunities for all of the city’s residents.” Conley will focus on crime reduction, economic development, access to education, healthy neighborhoods, and workforce development.
In addition to being a community advocate, Conley also serves as a school board member for Allen Village Charter Schools. Allen Village Superintendent Phyllis Washington says “I have known Lance for nearly fifteen years and I believe that he possesses the leadership qualities and the character that will make him a good candidate for City Council.” Fifth district resident and native of Kansas City, Cornell Gorman said, “I know Lance Conley personally and I am absolutely sure that he will be a positive influence in our community. I am concerned about all the violence, oppression, and injustice going on in my community. I grew up here and this is where I'm raising my 9-year-old daughter, and I want nothing less than harmony and peace in my city. I believe Lance Conley will help us get there.”
