KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Conley home in Kansas City is pretty active.  After all, three boys, including a set of twins, live there.

When the boys needed physicals for sports, their dad, Lance, loaded them into the car and headed to a free community health fair at Arrowhead stadium last year.  Now, he is definitely glad he made that decision.

Doctors found a heart condition with 5-year-old Devin.

"I'll stop short of saying it's life threatening.  It's something that needs to be taken care of typically at an early age," Lance Conley said.

Doctors determined Devin had P.D.A., or Patent ductus arteriosus , which is an opening in the arteries near the heart. The condition is often found in infants.

Conley said, "Devin was 5 years old when they diagnosed his.  Had it not been for the Touchdown Family Fest, we may not have known he had that condition."

That health fair is part of the Greater Kansas City Cover the Uninsured Coalition.  The coalition helps connect people who have little to no health insurance with services in their community.

According to the coalition's news release , "The federal government estimates 45.7 million Americans, including 9.2 million children (Source: State Health Access Data Assistance Center, 2007), lack health coverage of any for kind for an entire year."

Lance Conley is grateful to have gone to the Arrowhead health fair.  "He's running around, having fun. He's playing with his brothers. It was really a great thing that they did," Conley said. Tuesday afternoon, you can learn more about health resources in your community during a Call For Action phone-in event. Call 816-932-4321 from 4 p.m. to 6:30 pm to learn more about what's available in your area.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A small community formed on Facebook to help a local man living on the streets and contacted Mitch Weber, who was there when help arrived.

Every day for several weeks, Lance Conley and Kathy and Dennis Aslan drove by the same man in the same spot.

"I tell them he is different than most homeless people. They can communicate, he can't," Aslan said. "My husband will change his socks and his clothes are the same thing he's had on probably for months."

They call him "Dean" and even created a Facebook page called Project KC 4 Dean in hopes of someone recognizing him.

"He tries to communicate with us, but he just can't get the words out," Aslan said.

For the last couple weeks, they've pooled their money to get him a hotel room at night while trying to find him resources to get him off the street for good.

"I'm totally frustrated with the system that nothing is being done," Aslan said. Friday, they partnered with Independence Police to get him off the street. For now he is off the street, but for how long no one knows. "We're not going to give up," Aslan said. "Dean" will spend the next couple days off the streets as he undergoes tests at a local mental health facility.
